The historic character of Hotel GAL

Hotel GAL, located at 5 Dworcowa Street, is a renovated establishment situated in the building of the former Hotel Polski, which was once the pride of Tarnów. This hotel was built in 1904 and is an Art Nouveau style structure commissioned by Michał Mikosi, a renowned entrepreneur from Tarnów. The entire vicinity of Hotel GAL, including the hotel itself, boasts historic architecture. This is precisely why the hotel and the railway station urban complex of Dworcowa Street have been listed in the Register of Monuments since December 1, 1975, under number A-80.

The facade of Dworcowa Street has been renovated and its former splendor restored. In front of the entrance to the lobby-reception and on the landings of the staircase, partially preserved floor tiles from 1904 have been reconstructed and renewed.

Just behind the main entrance door to the hotel from Dworcowa Street, a plaque with the inscription „Tarnów Mikoś” has been built into the wall, commemorating the investor and builder of the tenement house, Michał Mikosi. On the first floor, wall decorations in the form of supraports have been restored, whose embellishments refer to the history of the building and give the first-floor corridor an unusual atmosphere.
